It is the best-in-class service designed with the industry’s highest performing equipment for a robust Wi-Fi performance and reliability.
Wi-Fi Mauritius enables all Mauritians to access free of charge the Internet through Wi-Fi in designated public areas.

You are within the range of a Wi-Fi Mauritius hotspot when you can see the Wi-Fi Mauritius signboard and when you can see ‘Wi-Fi Mauritius’ in the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your Wi-Fi device.
Wi-Fi Mauritius has been designed as a 24/7 service.

However, in some locations, the Wi-Fi may be available only during the official opening hours.

Using Wi-Fi Mauritius

You need:

  • a Wi-Fi enabled device, such as a smartphone, a tablet or a laptop
  • a valid local mobile number
  • to be within the range of one of the 350 Wi-Fi Mauritius hotspots
  1. Turn on Wi-Fi on your device
  2. Choose Wi-Fi Mauritius
  3. Enter your mobile number.
    You will receive a PIN by SMS.
  4. Enter the PIN and click on connect

Only one Wi-Fi session per mobile number is allowed on any Wi-Fi enabled device (smartphone, tablet, laptop) at any point in time.

You can get up to 2Mbps download and upload speeds.

Please note that the speed of the Wi-Fi connection varies and may be affected by the number of active users at the hotspot or the distance you are from the Wi-Fi hotspot emitter.
A volume allowance of 250MB, including download and upload traffic, is allowed per day per mobile number (until midnight).
250MB of Internet per day is largely sufficient for any normal Internet user. You can surf the web, check/send emails, watch YouTube, listen to music/online radio, communicate with friends and family via Facebook, Viber, WhatsApp, and much more. Peer-to-peer applications and access to illicit and illegal sites have been blocked.
After 30 minutes of inactivity, your session will expire automatically. You can reconnect to the Internet using the same PIN as long as the daily 250MB volume allowance has not been exceeded.

Yes. When you move from one hotspot to another, kindly turn off and turn on your Wi-Fi and reconnect to Wi-Fi Mauritius.
